AQUA Florya Mall Stretch Ceiling and LED Lighting Applications

METEX's interior architecture called for three distinct forms that went far beyond standard flat ceiling solutions: curved, inverted-vault surfaces at the bridge underpasses, a printed tunnel transition at the Istanbul Aquarium entrance, and a print pattern in the 1,000 m² enclosed market hall that precisely followed the architectural plan's column and arch axis. At this scale and in these forms, stretch ceiling installation was, at the time, a use case with few parallels anywhere in the world.

We developed a separate mould and stretching strategy for each form. We produced the inverted-vault surfaces at the bridge underpasses with custom moulds that created no rippling at any point along the curve; for the aquarium tunnel, we engineered the print and membrane to sit losslessly onto the transition's three-dimensional form. On the 1,000 m² surface in the market hall, the print pattern was aligned panel by panel with the architectural plan's column and arch axis. A total of 2,500 m² of stretch ceiling and 20,000 metres of LED lighting were built as a single surface and lighting language across these different forms.
