What Is CRI (Color Rendering Index)?

14 May 2025 · 5 min

Why the CRI value, which shows how faithfully a light source renders colours compared with natural daylight, matters in stretch ceiling projects.

CRI (Color Rendering Index) is an index, scored from 0 to 100, of how closely an artificial light source renders the colours of objects compared with how they appear under natural daylight. A higher CRI means more accurate, more vivid colour perception.

When choosing an LED for stretch ceiling projects, CRI is one of the top-priority criteria, especially in retail, healthcare and art spaces where colour accuracy is critical. Item Yapı favours LED solutions of CRI 90 and above in this type of project, so that material and product colours are perceived as close to reality as possible.

Choosing the right CRI is as much a functional decision as an aesthetic one — it directly affects the customer experience, product display and the overall perception of a space.
